Dentistry done

The tooth extraction went 'textbook perfect' according to the oral surgeon.  He did put a stitch or two in the gum to help healing what with Mom's platelets being a tad low.

Otherwise, she is here and resting comfortably (between gauze changes).

I got her a bagful of DVDs of old TV shows and a movie to watch while she's here.  There is blessed little on TV anymore, yet monthly prices just keep going up.

So between her books, some TV, card games and temping soft foods she should be enticed to stay 2 nights here.

We have a follow-up appointment next week with the dentist.  Keep your fingers crossed.

I spent so much time getting Mom calmed down, etc. over the past 3 weeks while I searched for an oral surgeon, got her to medical checkup, scheduling, etc. etc.  that I'm assuredly more of a wreck than she ever was. LOL

Honestly, I think it's much harder when someone else is in pain or circumstance than when oneself is.  And sometimes there is just nothing you can do and it eats at you, right?

I'm off to make some cream soup (split pea) for lunch later today. Thank you all for your good wishes and kind comments.

I'll keep you posted.  :-D

  4. Hi! Long time no talk! How's it going?
Are you surviving the winter ok? Getting seeds started? I'm feeling really behind on seed starting this year, but without a CSA (gave that up last year) and with this winter, I've been feeling less pressure to get the garden stuff started as early. Now that it's nearly the end of March, I guess I better get started.

Anyhow - just wanted to check in and see how you were doing... I feel bad I haven't been by here in ages. Hope all is well on your end!

  5. Dani, Sue & Glenda - thanks so much for checking in on Mom's progress. I'm really glad I was able to have her here for the early part of the recovery when things could go wrong. Your support is truly appreciated.

Jeph. Hi. Long time no see. Hope you won't stay away so long next time. Enjoy our first whole spring day - we got 2+ inches of snow this morning!
