I toad you it was too early!

While working in the back yard bins, this big fella kept a close watch.  I felt so bad for him - sure the weather was nice now, but it's going to down into the TEENs Tuesday night.  Thankfully, when he got startled by my presence, he made a bee-line for a little cave under one of the bin beds.  He should be safe there over the nasty weather.

As for my garden updates, you'll have to check out the flower and vegetable side bar blogs for details.

  1. Wow, I haven't seen a single frog or toad in the garden yet. I know the spring peepers have been doing their thing in the marsh across the street for awhile now, and there were some REALLY rowdy ducks over there at 5:30 this morning, but no toads in the garden yet.

    1. Not heard any Spring peepers down here for over 20 years. How sad.

  2. I heard peepers several days ago and it took a few seconds for me to realize what it was.

No toads yet, but one small snake.

    1. Spring used to be filled with the song of peepers. But in early 90s lots of farms sold out to developers and there is no place for peepers to live anymore. I should take an evening drive out somewhere in the country just so I could hear them again.

    2. plenty of bird song in my vicinity. No snakes, but discovered a slow worm keeping warm under a cover of a veg bed.
