Bozeman-ed!

Was about 4" when this photo taken earlier. Now measuring closer to 7". Heavy wet snow. Helluva day.

Late that day:  I don't know WHY I think I can still shovel snow.  This was probably a bad idea, but this heavy snow would freeze solid tonight and the next couple days since we will only get UP to the 20s.  If this freezes in place, I'm sure I'd have trouble getting the car out of the garage and around that tight turn onto the straight driveway.  But really.  I have to do something about this.  I'm too darn old and broken down and if I fell, nobody would even see me back here.  Foolish foolish me.  *sigh*

  1. Good grief, no wonder you were in a hurry to get your autumn clear-up done. No snow here, not even a proper frost yet.

    1. Yes, we have definite seasonal deadlines here. And they loom....!

  2. WOW! Wonder how much I'll find when I get outta work... I think you often get a wee bit more than we do over in Rootstown. Mentor area got whalloped Friday when we got next to nothing. This is a good reminder of all the things you thought you had more time to wrap up in the garden/yard work. ;-)

    1. Most of the snow was already on the ground by 5:00 a.m. Wonder you didn't notice on your way to work.

  3. We were predicted to have a lot of snow and it must have come all your way. It is a pretty scene. I like our small amount of snow but the 13 degrees F. isn't that fun. Yours makes for a very pretty pictures before the big dump.

    1. The big dump was overnight - we only got another 1-2" during the day. The important thing was to clean the driveway while the temps was around freezing. Though heavy, it was better to get at it before LAST night when it dipped to 8F - freezing EVERYTHING rock hard and immovable.

  4. Kris, could you fit a blade on the riding mower? or maybe invest in a snow blower. I know I could never shovel that much snow on my own. Thank goodness for the blade on the tractor. Is the cost prohibitive to pay someone?

I would have to hibernate during the snow storms.

    1. The mower does not have power for a blade, it is only a riding mower, not a lawn tractor. I HAVE a snowblower, but it will not throw heavy wet snow. It works on lighter snow - so 85% of the time I can clean my own driveway. For 15% I rely on friends. I just have to wait until they have time.... This first snow was a real heavy whallop. I'm not really good at hibernating, but I do have more downtime during winter. *heh*

    2. Thank goodness I'm not still living in Lake County. They have FEET of snow out of all this due to the lake.

  5. Yikes! An early Christmas present? I always worry about the melt/re-freeze too. Snow is one thing, ice is another.

    1. Man, this was NO GIFT I'll tell ya. Yesterday it started with freezing rain coating everything, then melt, stayed in the 40s and rain over night and this morning. The radar is a mess. The lawns are a mess. The yards filled with leaves and mud and crap. Hopefully things will refreeze and I can get up some of the frozen leaves Tue/Wed before I just give up. Gotta love climate change. *sigh* Hey, Happy Thanksgiving!
