Grey Friday

The fridge is full of leftovers (<= click for details), the sink is filled with dishes, and the sky filled with dark grey clouds spitting rain.

But Thanksgiving day itself was bright, sunny and the warmest (near 60) we've seen in 29 years, so we were able to enjoy a nice walk around the gardens after our dinner.

Today I will tackle those dishes and take leftovers to Mom who didn't join us yesterday.

Otherwise I'm staying inside.  I'm not a good shopper even in quiet times let alone the frenzy that the Friday after Thanksgiving has become.  BUY THIS and SAVE.  BUY THAT and SAVE.  BUY before SOMEONE ELSE GETS IT.

Nope, not for me.  Buy little or less and save MUCH more, as we growing number of frugaleers around the world have learned.    Others can fight the queues, the crowds and the crush for the opportunity to spend.  Me, I'll snuggle on the couch with a good book for a while, then work on some hand made Christmas gifts this weekend.  I'll sip tea, watch old movies and bask in the truly warm glow of fellowship, friends, (and fiscal solvency ;-D).

Hope your Thanksgiving was as warm and wonderful, too!

  1. So true---we avoid the sales too. Black Friday to us means decorating the house for Christmas, our first round of Christmas music, pie/coffee and an afternoon nap. Let the fools go out into the world.

Sounds like you've had much the same weather. Yesterday-65 and sunny, today-gloomy, windy, and flurries. I think it's FINALLY winter.....

  2. We had beautiful weather yesterday and today cold and windy. It's the wind that's cold. Without it, it wouldv'e been another nice day. No rain though, our chances for it were on Thanksgiving evening and they disappeared to that secret place where all the rest of our rain is, I guess.

Glad you had a good day. We're staying away from Black Friday and all the other shopping days, as well. Bah! Humbug! What a frenzy just for stuff that'll be in next summer's garage sales, which I will buy (if I want it) for pennies on the dollar.

    Hugs, Ilene

  3. Well, having said that (about not going anywhere on black Friday), my phones pretty much bit the dust. I could have waited until Monday, buuuut -- BJ's had $30 off an ATT 4-phone answering set for a limited time sooo ... around noon on Friday I headed out.

I was pleasantly surprised that by driving the back route, there was no traffic to the store. There was parking right up front. The phones were still in stock and there were no lines at checkout. Good grief! Getting the new phones was easier than any NORMAL weekend shop. Yay. Can ya hear me now? LOL
