R.I.P. Rocky

Email this morning from the Ohio DNR (no, no NOT Do Not Resuscitate - the other one: Dept. of Natural Resources).

Alison et all, you were right.

Poor thing.  An unfortunate situation to say the least.

I think where it may have forced in the corner of a screen upstairs and will reinforce both vent windows with 1/2" hardware cloth.

*sigh*

Who knew we had flying squirrels?   Not me, that's for sure.

Regrets to the varmint population.

And, of course,  condolences to moose....

  1. We had flying squirrels up in the Upper Peninsula, but I didn't know we had them here at our new place until one of the neighbors said they have them at the bird feeders every night.
Sorry you caught one by mistake, but he was IN the attic--and they can do a lot of damage.

    1. Thanks, Sue. But you are right, had it escaped from the trap it would have run into the open floor joists and disappeared into the walls and it would have been awful getting it out then. I'll be more vigilant on screening from now on. Also I'll be on the lookout for them outside too. I'd like to see one glide....

  2. They're nocturnal which is whey we don't see them much. We have them in the wooded areas near me but I've never seen one either that wasn't a pet.
