Good grief!

It was in the 40s and very windy last evening.

When I looked out this morning - WOW!   29F and I was VERY glad that I'd gotten up the (4th) batch of leaves chopped and onto the beds on Sunday.  As you can see (left) the sweet gums are still holding onto their leaves - for now.  They are always the last to leave(s) the party.

Meanwhile - this is some first fall - way earlier than last year.

Oops.  And it isn't done yet.

Looks like we'll be getting lots of lake effect snow on/off all day....

I don't think the birds are very happy .... looks like frozen food for breakfast.

  1. We have a long winter forecast for here in Britain, too. Sofar, I have been able to keep the central heating off. It`s pretty expensive to run it, so I shall save it for when we really need it. No snow forecast as yet, but I`m expecting it for December and January. Keep warm.

    1. I've been reading your frugal posts and know you've tried hard not to light the central heating. I've had to use mine many days this fall as nights drop into the 20s with lots of wind. You keep warm, too.

  2. We were colder at 24°, but no freezing precip! Looks like winter. That is a beautiful shot of the sky!

    1. The banner sky was shot Monday a.m., the post sky (snow) was today. Sure FEELS like winter! Brrrrr. Did you ever light that wood stove?

  3. They are pretty pictures but it is too early for you to be that cold. In our area we were 9 degrees and I couldn't believe it was registering correctly. The larger cities nearby were warmer at 11 degrees F. and 14 degrees F. I still have some things I need to do outside and I hope it warms up next week.

    1. I'm with you, Larry. Still stuff to do outside before keeping inside for the season. It's supposed to get into the 50 Fri-Sat so hopefully I can get caught up. I'm rather glad we got this snow instead of those really frigid temps you are dealing with. BRRRRR.
