Temporary restrictions

I've shut down access to the sidebar blogs pages.  Hopefully this is temporary.

While those blogs get a lot of traffic, comments are few and far between (except for you couple of loyal ones and you know who you are!).

If you would like access to the sidebar blogs, please shoot me an email at:

Melissa.Majora  atATat   gmailGMAILgmail  dotDOTdot  comCOMcom  (use the BOLD info - rest is to confuse robots)

I will use your email address (the one you log on with to browse blogs) and I will put you on the "Y'all come" list.

I've been doing this blog since 2008 and there used to be a lot more interaction with the readers.

I guess this blog is not as interesting as it was or that folks just don't have time to say HI after visiting or spending time going through pages and pages of archive material.

I've made a few 'true blue' readers and you guys are like gold, so if this is an inconvenience to you, mention that on your access email.

Hopefully I'll reverse my decision if things pick up on this main page.  Otherwise I may be tempted to restrict this page too, allowing only those that have expressed interest in the blog.

Damn but it's been a long, hard, cold winter.  It's taking it's toll on my spirit!

  1. We were above freezing when I got up this morning. It went up to 45 degrees and now they say snow is coming again and the temps have dropped to 41. I guess if it had not been so long and hard we wouldn't bother to talk about it. But it has been miserable. Hang in there.

    1. Yep. Rain and snow coming our way now even though it's about 45F outside. I'm tired of watching radar this winter. Hope you'll send me an email, Larry, so I can put you on the "A" list!

  2. Hi Kris--Happy Spring!
We had our first "warm" day yesterday--it hit 38 and it felt like HEAVEN!
Hope you had a good winter--I don't think I've EVER done so much skiing and snowmobiling and reading and cooking.....but now it's time to get back into blogging. I need my spring "fix" of people-LOL! Funny how much one can miss people I've never actually "met", but sure get to know through blogging. Anywho, enough of the novel, looking forward to seeing your yard in the coming weeks. I don't think I'll be seeing mine till at least the end of the month--my yard hydrant just started to peek out from the depths of snow yesterday.

    1. Hi Sue! Long winter for sure. A real pain this year. Got up to near 50 yesterday and (finally finally finally) I got to spend a little time outside. Not so much today- cold, cloudy, rainy/snow. *sigh*

Hey, zip me an email so I can add you to the 'full package' access to the other blog pages. Still wishing I could comment on YOUR blog, but at least I can see all your pretty gardens and flowers.

  3. Kris, you should have been here yesterday; the sun was shining all day and it got up to 63°! I am about to get motivated about gardening again.

The snowy pictures are beautiful but I am ready to see some of your pretty garden and flower ones again.

    1. With all the deer I'm afraid my gardens will never really be 'pretty' again. It's becoming more and more a monoculture out there - only zins and agastache and lavender. All other flowers/shrubs are eaten down by the deer. I really miss my Yvonnes salvia, but those are devoured as soon as they sprout.

  4. Kris, I seem to suffer the same fate with my blog. People that used to pop in and comment have disappeared over the last year or so. I guess they finally found pastures new, as there are just so many different blogs out there. I don`t mind that, as I am writing my blog for my own pleasure, and I do appreciate the few people that stuck with it and read occasionally. Winter has been awfully long this time, but at least we didn`t suffer all that snow and ice you had to content with. Here, in Britain we had loads of rain, floods for Somerset and some nasty storms that caused some housing and railway lines to be damaged.
What a difference a day can make, though. This weekend it`s lovely and sunny here at the South coast. I`ve managed to get out into the garden to do some weeding and get veggie beds prepared for this growing season. Temperatures were in the 14 C mark in the sunshine. Such a pleasure to be outside in just a light jumper and jeans.

    1. Like you, I blog as a way to keep track of events and progress. But I do enjoy every bit of conversation that the blog used to generate. I guess my story is getting stale - especially with the deer constantly destroying the gardens. I'm glad you are enjoying some sunshine! We got some Friday, then yesterday is snowed all day and we are only 15F today. Brrr.

Hope you will shoot me an email so I can make sure you don't miss any Chef posts. :-D

  5. Don't disappear, Kris. As a teacher, I stay so busy with school/grading Sept - June that it's hard to have extra time to visit blogs and comment as much as I want to. You are heard and appreciated.

    1. I was beginning to think I'd already disappeared - *heh*. Thanks for stopping by, Tammy and want you to know how much I appreciate your teaching. We absolutely need people like you!

  6. I too have noticed decrease comments on my blog (after blogging for 5 years) but have been told statistically there are more folks reading blogs but less who have the patience to actually comment. Maybe we need to look at ourselves differently, maybe like the newspaper reporters who wrote column after column certainly without daily feedback but all in the cause of providing good education to the masses...but then again I sure like the comments on my blog.!

    1. You're correct. When I was a freelance newspaper writer I never got any comments (except in the way of column placement and $). But I was hoping the blog was going to be more of a 2-way street than the dead end lane it's turning in to. So nice of you to stop by and lend support, Donna. Winter's been a real pain, no?

  7. There used to be a group of blogs that it seemed a group all followed, many with their own blogs. Many of those blogs seem to have disappeared (as my own did for a few years with a move). I find it is hard to get back into the swing of things between the house projects and other distractions, my garden distractions have been shrunk a bit (though the garden is expanding).

    1. Omigosh, Amy. It's sure been awhile I've seen you in the comments! I check in on you now and then, when you do post. So glad you are browsing again. Shoot me an email and I'll give you access to the sidebar blogs if you want. Take care and thanks for stopping by.
