I need a little comfort....

And right this very minute!   Brrr.  We've had a couple of days when it never got out of the 20s.  Time for some comfort food.

I'd frozen 4 bags of stock from the Thanksgiving turkey.  I grabbed one and added the usual suspects: carrots, potatoes, green beans, cabbage ribbons, corn, hot pepper rings, chunked turkey and some dried herbs.  While that was simmering away...

I baked a loaf of my no-brainer ciabatta.  Ahhh.  There's no fragrance like fresh yeast bread.

Put them together and oh how all the cold weather seems to melt away.  Mmmm-mmm.

  4. Delicious, the smell of home-made soup and fresh bread takes a lot of beating.

  5. I make soup a lot, too. I was going to make some bread, but I cut a little bit of the tip of a finger off last week. I should find a no knead recipe.

  6. There's nothing like a fresh pot of something simmering on the stove during a cold day.

Sue - my bread IS a no knead recipe. Pop over to my Chef's Table blog and find the recipe there. Or you could go to Food Wishes and watch Chef John's video. Search for 'no knead Ciabatta'.
